Is Indominant its own unique TTRPG system?

Yes, Indominant is its own unique system. There are some of our Core Rules and Mechanics that will feel familiar for those who have played Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition, and Pathfinder 2nd Edition such as Attacking, making Checks, and even rolling for Initiative.

Besides some of those, everything else has been designed as a unique mechanic to be fun and super like we like to do thing in Indominant, like our Drive Power Resource System for using Powers in and out of combat, our Hybrid Action Economy to allow for multiple actions per turn and strategic combinations in battle, Dominance and Weakness which is our modified version of Advantage and Disadvantage that works very different, and Momentous Actions that can be used just in time when you absolutely need to succeed to save someone from falling debris or stop the bad guy from hitting the big red button, and all this is just the beginning!

For more information see our Backerkit Video, or our Youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@OdinsKeyGaming for more fun examples and mechanics.

When making a Super, am I locked into the thematics of each powerset or can I make it my own thing?

Absolutely not, you can use all the mechanics of a powerset but thematically say how you want to use those powers!

For instance, I love the Light Energy Powerset but I want my “light” powers to come from my cat and a special crystal I found. Then when using any of the “powers” I transform into a totally different cool outfit and blast away any evil doers.

Alternatively I like the Weapon Mastery Powerset and I want to only use knives and swords even for the weapons that sound like they come from firearms, totally good! You just can say I use this special kind of weapon that causes the mechanical effect and damage described in the Powerset.

Or you could completely re-write the themes and flavors of a Powerset that fits the mechanics you want, if the exact flavor and theme you are looking for is not currently available in the official Rulebook. For example you could turn the Fire Manipulation Powerset into Radiation themes, and leave all the mechanics intact. Just keep in mind how using these powers out of combat will take coordination and approval from your Comic Editor!

Truly, you can make your Super the way you want, and just make sure the mechanics all work out to keep the game fun and balanced still. Working with your Comic Editor, Indominant’s Game Master, you can make even more cool fun roleplay experiences available from all the fun thematics you want for your Super!

Is it possible to have Multiple Powersets in Indominant?

Yes, in the Supers Information Codex (SIC) we will be providing Optional rules to have two powers at once.

The tldr: You get to choose two Powersets, and each Level-Up you get to choose which Powerset to focus on. With some caveats, read those below if you want!

The Long: you choose 2 Powersets right at Super creation, or if it makes sense with the storyline or experiences of your Super you can choose a second Powerset later. You must choose at least one Power of each Tier from Each Powerset, with the exception of Base Powers where you must choose 2 from each Powerset. We highly recommend bringing this up to your Comic Editor and making it a part of your roleplay why you have two Powersets. As an example, an Ice Manipulator suddenly gains Fire Manipulation powers from a chaotic evolution of their Mutation Origin that was selected at Super Creation.

Power Scale - how powerful are Supers in the universe of the Indominant TTRPG?

Supers in Indominant that begin their journey at Level 1 are not considered a very powerful force within the universe, and as they work their way towards Level 20, they become extremely powerful forces relative to other beings and Threats in the universe. Even at Level 20 a Super is not capable of destroying a planet or razing its surface with their power, though they would have power akin to that of a large non-nuclear bomb.

Why the name “Indominant”?

We wanted to use a word for our game that does not exist. We wanted something unique, which a fake word gives us. We just took the approach of, “don’t overthink it” and the vibes of how it sounds. It’s quick, clean, and easy to say.

At first, we were looking at Vice & Virtue and other stuff like that and it just didn’t give the vibes we wanted, and then we ended up with “Indominant”.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
